Rzyski was a Founding Father and first warden of the Theta Sigma chapter, having transferred to Cal State Long Beach from Cal State Fullerton where he was also a member.
Rzyski passed away in June 2011, and is remembered as one of the chapter’s most influential and respected leaders.
To honor him, the chapter set up a scholarship in his name and started hosting the Matthew Rzyski Memorial Golf Tournament in 2012. Active members, alumni and family members come together to play in the tournament.
