A Quick Guide to

Donating Securities

Thank you for your interest in making a gift of securities to the Pi Kappa Phi Foundation. Many donors make gifts using appreciated securities because it allows them to avoid the capital gains tax on the appreciation and to take the full current value of the security as a charitable gift deduction.  You can make a gift of securities in just a few simple steps:

STEP 1: INITIATE THE SECURITIES TRANSFER

You must contact your broker to initiate the transfer of securities, whether you choose to transfer electronically or send your certificates by mail. These two common methods allow you to easily make a gift of securities to the Pi Kappa Phi Foundation.

STEP 2: SEND THE SECURITIES TO THE PI KAPPA PHI FOUNDATION

Most gifts of securities are made via electronic transfer. If you hold the certificates, you can choose to send them through the mail. However, if you do not hold the certificates, the transfer must be done electronically.

ELECTRONICALLY

Donate your securities to the Pi Kappa Phi Foundation electronically through the Foundation’s accounts with Merrill Lynch Advisors
