Theta Pi alumnus seeking support for child’s heart transplant

I I have thought a lot about what I was going to say in this and still at the time of typing have not found the words but I will do my best to articulate my current situation.

As a Founding Father (2007) and former Archon of the Theta Pi Chapter of Pi Kappa Phi, I am coming to you today in an effort to gain support for my son who was born in June and is going to require a Heart Transplant to survive. It’s crazy for me to reach out, as I am usually the one helping others, but there’s nothing like watching your first child suffer while waiting to get a new heart due to an diagnosed Heart Condition and not being able to work for the last seven months and the foreseeable future while we get established at the Transplant Center.

So, as a brother and former Archon who has helped many other families, I am reaching out to our network of brothers for some help. There has been a small fundraiser started for our family that has helped with a lot of expenses for the 7 months we’ve been at Cook Children’s Hospital in Fort Worth, Texas, but we are now out of options at Cook’s because they don’t do heart transplants here and we are now being transferred to either Houston (Texas Children’s Hospital) or St. Louis, Missouri (Washington University Children’s Hospital). So it goes without saying that we are under some financial strain with this bill here at Cook’s (Over $5 Million) and the looming expenses of relocation, the medical bills related to his care, and personal bills while I’m unable to work until he is stable at the new facility.

We have created a Facebook page Prayers for Baby CT Griffin that gives you the opportunity to get to know a little about Baby CT and get updates on his care and health. There is a link to his current fundraiser on there as well: “You Caring” fundraiser but we would be so blessed to have any type of donation to the current fundraiser, some starting a new fundraiser, or any donations through the “Friends or Family” option on PayPal.

I hope to get this little guy healthy so that we can make him a Pi Kappa Phi Legacy one day! I know if we all band together like the group of brothers we are, there is a way that we can remove some of the stress coming from the financial side of this horrible battle so that we can get settled in the new city that accepts us and get this baby all better. Thank you all so much for the support and prayers… Please share this with your contacts, your chapters, friends and family, and others.

God Bless all of you!
Carl, Kayla, and Baby CT Griffin
