Student Spotlight – January 2016 – James Mathison

Wes is an outstanding chapter brother who is currently studying theatre. He is a very accomplished magician at The Magic Castle in Hollywood, Calif. He recently went to FISM (The International Federation of Magic Societies) in the summer of 2015, which is the World Olympics of Magic. While attending FISM, Wes assisted world renowned magicians including Michael Carbonaro and Eugene Burger.

Wes consistently performs in shows around Long Beach, Orange County and the greater LA area. He also has performed for many local volunteer events and multiple Pi Kappa Phi events including Founders’ Day and family days among others.

Along with his studies and magic, he finds another passion in playing bass and singing for a local band called The Moderates. They are are a signed band who have opened for a number of popular bands, most recently being REO Speedwagon.

He also spends a large amount of his time volunteering for a local elementary school. Although Wes is very accomplished, he is one of the most humble men I know and a truly genuine man. He is excelling in his studies, but also is a highly involved community member who is accomplishing some amazing things throughout his life.
