Moody lost her apartment as well as all of her belongings in a fire that occurred early Thursday morning.
As Village of Brockport firefighters arrived at the scene, the fire hydrants were frozen and covered in snow delaying the firefighters’ attempts at extinguishing the flames.
The event inspired the brothers of the Pi Kappa Phi-Eta Lambda Chapter and sisters of the Delta Phi Epsilon-Epsilon Miu Chapter to clear the fire hydrants around the Brockport village.
The fire occurred at Moody’s home located at 75 Spring St. Moody, who shared the apartment with her boyfriend Andrew Maxwell, awoke early Thursday morning to the fire. According to fire officials, the fire started in the two upstairs apartments and spread to the bottom two. No one was injured. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
After finding out the fire took the home of another Greek life member, Ramel Holliday, president of the Pi Kappa Phi-Eta Lambda Chapter at the College at Brockport advertised the idea to clean off the fire hydrants on social media.
