Home Sweet Home for Theta Mu Chapter

March 31, 2014, marked that date for the Theta Mu Chapter. Pi Kappa Phi Properties purchased the Theta Mu Chapter house on the University of Massachusetts Ð Amherst campus after renting the property since August 2011.

The recent purchase was the joyous result after overcoming a number of hurdles, particularly zoning concerns. As part of the purchase, Pi Kappa Phi Properties utilized funds from the new Housing Investment Fund which was enacted by the 53rd Supreme Chapter in Washington D.C. in August 2012. The property currently houses 30 chapter members and has common space areas to benefit all members of the chapter, including a chapter room, dining room and study space.

“On behalf of the Theta Mu Chapter, I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to all of you that made this possible,” said Theta Mu alumnus Mike DiPietro. DiPietro served as archon when the chapter first began leasing the building in 2011.

“It has been a great team effort all around,” added Pi Kappa Phi Properties Executive Vice President Greg Buehner. “It’s great to see a chapter work toward a successful purchase, partnering with Pi Kappa Phi Properties.”

The Theta Mu Chapter was chartered in 2006 and this purchase was made possible due to the chapter’s uninterrupted success and campus leadership over the past eight years. So now the members are able to begin making the house a home… including some major renovations, along with painting the pink walls existing from the house’s former sorority tenants. Congratulations to the men of Theta Mu!
