Gamma Psi brother helps bring class project to reality

David Peltier (Gamma Psi) and his teammates, Erin Willingham, Emily Banks, and Madison Layton, in Augusta University’s Event Planning and Production class were tasked to create a new vibrant event for Augusta, Georgia’s Downtown.

After months of design and planning, the group presented their concept called Bridging the Gap, a bridge dinner party on a local bridge over the Savannah River in Augusta with all proceeds of the event going to benefit the homeless population in the region.

The event was later selected by a panel of three City of Augusta officials as the winner from the class.

As the winning project, David and his team presented their event to the Augusta-Richmond County Commission and received praise from both the Mayor and the City Commission who unanimously voted to move forward with the project and directed the City of Augusta’s Parks and Recreation Department to establish concrete plans for the event to launch in the first half of 2019.
