Fraternity jewelry donated to museum collection

Jack Steward collection of jewelry

Brother Jack W. Steward, Alpha Zeta 228 (Oregon State) served as our National President from 1970 to 1972. He entered chapter eternal in the fall of 2012.

An active member since his initiation in April of 1943, Jack served the fraternity in many roles, as varied as his time on staff as a Leadership Consultant to his term as an Area Governor, as well as serving on countless committees. Over the years he was a member of the Properties Board, Centennial Commission, and Nu Phi. His attendance at 13 Supreme Chapters allowed him to interact with students and alumni on a personal level.

It was with great pride that his collection of jewelry, a gift from his wife, Carolyn and son, Scott Steward, Alpha Zeta 669 (Oregon State) was placed in a position of honor in our museum. Included in the collection are his member badge, lapel pins, and tie clasp. His wife’s charm, and bracelet are also on display. Of course, the most special piece is his jeweled pearl and ruby member badge, with its gavel guard, designating the office of President.
