Being a founding father or refounding father of Pi Kappa Phi is an amazing experience and one you will remember the rest of your life. Michael Brown colonized his chapter at Elon in 1978 and his son Matt rechartered Beta Phi on February 14, 2015.
Michael joined his fraternity back in 1978 because he was a member of a local fraternity on campus. Elon wanted the local organizations to go national. After they had looked at several different choices, his local fraternity contacted Pi Kapp because they received a card from the national organization with Durward Owen’s picture on it. After they met with national representatives, they decided that Pi Kappa Phi was the best fit for them. Matt joined Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity because the men at East Carolina left a great lasting impression. Michael also goes on a trip each year with his chapter brothers and his son has always seen how close he is with his fraternity brothers.
Michael Brown has never regretted joining Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity and is very proud of Matt for following in his footsteps.
