Devin is sitting this semester out after being diagnosed with leukemia in February.
“It was probably the worst news I’d heard in my life,” said Scott Meyers, a junior. “Never had anyone this close affected by cancer.” The effort to raise money is called Fyte for Wryte, which is named after Hoffer’s Greek name as a member of the fraternity.
“This is one of my best friends so it’s hard for me to deal with it but, I guess this campaign is a way for me to help deal with him being diagnosed – a way for me to get over it,” said Ramel Holliday, a senior.
Through a t-shirt sale and online fundraiser, Pi Kappa Phi has raised more than $9,000 to go toward Devin’s medical expenses.
