Eta Eta Chapter re-chartered at California, Irvine

Eta Eta Chapter

The original chapter was closed in September of 1998 after the chapter decided to surrender their charter. But in February of 2013 Pi Kappa Phi decided to restart its chapter at UC Irvine.

National Chaplain Timothy S. Hebson, of the Alpha Eta Chapter at Samford University and J. Gunnar Schalin of the Upsilon chapter at the University of Illinois served as the installing officers for the weekend. The 45 re-founding fathers were initiated by the men of Theta Sigma (Cal State Long Beach) and Iota Iota (Cal Poly – Pomona).

Representing the national fraternity at the chapter’s chartering banquet were Director of Chapter Development Andrew Richards, Iota Alpha (Sacred Heart); Coordinator of Expansion Patrick Smith, Gamma Tau (North Texas); Senior Leadership Consultant Keenan Dollar, Theta Alpha (Southern Mississippi); and Leadership Consultant Joshua Wolinski, Xi (Roanoke). Chapter Advisor Peter Martin, Beta Upsilon (Virginia) was in attendance; as well as the university’s Vice Chancellor for University Advancement, Gregory Leet.

During his keynote address, Installing Officer Tim Hebson challenged the men to continue to grow, lead in academics, and better their community. Archon Anthony Perez ended his address by saying that “at the beginning of this week I said 45 men would go into chartering as associate members and 45 would come out as initiated brothers, and sure enough 45 associate members went in and 45 initiated brothers came out as re-founding fathers.”
