Charleston area alumni celebrate Founders’ Day

The weekend kicked off with a meet and greet happy hour on Friday at Mac’s Place, owned by Garrett McNally, alumnus of Alpha Psi Chapter at Indiana University. Saturday morning a Pi Kappa Phi Historical walking tour was conducted by Drew Holder, alumnus of Alpha Chapter at the College of Charleston. This was followed by an annual meeting of the Charleston Alumni Chapter of Pi Kappa Phi where new board positions were elected, among other business that was conducted. Congratulations to Ryan Padgett, Sigma (South Carolina), Treasurer, Benjamin Winckler Alpha (College of Charleston), Secretary and Brian Mathias, Alpha (College of Charleston), Director of Alumni Communications.

The main Founders’ Day event was held Saturday afternoon in the McAlister Hospitality Suite at TD Arena, home of the College of Charleston Cougars. Approximately 35 alumni from various chapters, including Alpha, Sigma, Chi, Omega and Gamma Delta along with 50 undergraduates from the Alpha Chapter were in attendance. The program was highlighted by the keynote Panel of Legends with Major General Tom Carter, Dr. Pat Figley, Mr. Pat Kuhnle, and Mr. Trevor Stubbs-Stroud, all of whom shared the impact of Pi Kappa Phi and life as a brother post-graduation.

The weekend concluded with a brunch gathering on Sunday.

The Charleston Alumni Chapter of Pi Kappa Phi was excited to welcome brothers and guests from various chapters, those living in the greater Charleston area and from out of town. The chapter has experienced tremendous success with their Founders’ Day festivities and look forward to its continued growth as they expect even more attendees next year.
