2020 Thirty Under 30: Jose Parra

Jose is a first-generation college graduate who strives to be the best version of himself for his family and the betterment of his community. He attended Northern Arizona University and graduated in May 2017. He served the Theta Upsilon chapter as philanthropy chair and archon. In 2019, he earned his master’s degree in medical health sciences and taught chemistry labs and lab safety to undergraduate students while working towards his masters. Later in 2019, he started at Touro University in the Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine program. During medical school, he has worked part-time as a Mental Health Technician and currently works as a tutor. He also is the current chapter advisor for Theta Upsilon. Outside of school and work, he volunteers his time with Spread the Word Nevada; he packages books and sends them to children from K-6 to have access to learning and reading materials. He remains firm in his stance that his experience in Pi Kappa Phi played a fundamental role in his success today. He knows he is a successful medical student because of the values that were instilled in him by his brothers and the Fraternity. He hopes that as an alumnus and active member in his community, he can inspire other brothers to achieve their lifelong goals.
