2018 Thirty Under 30: Tyler Fisher

Tyler Fisher
Zeta Epsilon – George Mason

After graduating from George Mason University with degrees in both economics and government, Tyler took an unexpected turn in his career path by joining IBM in February 2017 as a business consultant for the Consulting by Degrees program. After participating in rigorous training and learning business fundamentals, he partnered on his first project which was a migration of a Fortune 500 company from mainframes to the cloud. After receiving a call from a former colleague and mentor gauging his interest in a role as the second employee of Unite America, he was initially hesitant but later accepted the position, moving across the country to take a leap of faith. Unite America was the only organization in the country dedicated to recruiting, training, and electing independent candidates to office, which gave him the opportunity to grow professionally and tackle tough business and political challenges. Since joining Unite America, he has helped oversee the growth of the organization from a $300,000 per year budget to a $3 million per year budget and a staff from two to twelve individuals. Tyler also oversaw the recruitment of a slate of independent candidates in Colorado and led the Unite America partnership program which has allowed like-minded organizations to recruit slates of independent candidates in New Mexico, Washington, and Maine.
