Day 5

Today we left Boston, and headed to The Woodlands Camp, in Wexford Pennsylvania! We got up at 7:00 AM, (which is much earlier than we had been getting up, so YAY for spleeping in!) and packed the vans, and we were off to the first camp! We were heading to camp, and I was feeling a lot of different emotions. I was tired, and anxious to meet the campers, and I was nervous about the projects we would be doing, but most of all I was excited to dive into the work, and to start impacting other people's lives. We were planning on getting to the camp around 6:30, but we didn't get in until around 9:30 that evening. Calculating stops, and not realizing that we couldn't go the speed limit with all of our tools weighing the vans down. It was good to have the time together though. When we get to the camps it is very fast paced, so the being in the van gives us plenty of time to bond with one another. This was our first long van ride as a team, and I gotta say that being in the van with everyone really showed me more of who the guys are, and how well we will work together.

We got to the camp, and everyone was super excited to be there, and to see what the camp was like. Since we didn't get in until the late evening, we couldn't meet any of the campers, but just being in the cmap environment gives everyone a great feeling, after all, it is hard to be in a bad mood when you're at summer camp, right? I am really excited to spend our first week at camp, and to see how we as a team will overcome the obstacles that come up. It is going to be a great week!

Day 4

After two days of told training, not only did I learn a lot about how to handle the tooldsthat we will be using this summer, but I also realized how big of a difference I can make by picking them up and building accessible ammenities for people with different abilities. I'm genuinely excited for what our team is going to be able to give back to the country. I've never really picked up any power tools before, because I never thought it was something worth learning. However, these last two days totally changed my persepctive, now I know that whether I am building a Pirate Ship for a playground, or just needing to make repairs at home, I know I am able to. I will never forget this amazing experience, and I can't wait to see the summer unravel.

Day 3

Today was our first day of tool training in Boston. I was really excited that we got a glimpse into what kind of work will be doing onsite at the camps. I am also very greatful for our sponsors Miluakee Tools, and Tool Box Buzz, and all the volunteers who took their time share their knowledge and experience with the team. I am excited for what's in sotre, and can't wait to see how the summer will unfold.

Day 2

Thursday was the first day we were together with the whole team. We all woke up together and have our crew chief breakfast and talked trying to get to know one another more. We did a few bonding activities such as a name game, or sitting in circles describing what the mission of this trip means to us. That broke down our walls more and more for each of us to get  a chance and take a glimpse at what kind of brother we are.
We went over the rules and made our own expectations for what we want to accomplish this summer as a team and I can say after today I am ready to start our tool training tomorrow to get the training we need to make these camps great and make the campers smile. We all want to start our summer off with a bang and what better way to do it than getting to know one another to make this experience great for us all.
