Frequently Asked Questions:
As of 5.14.2020
Why was the 57th Supreme Chapter in-person convention canceled and moved to a virtual experience?
In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, National Council voted to keep the health and safety of our attendees, staff and guests as the top priority. Transitioning to a virtual format provides the opportunity for non-members to participate and allows us to focus on immediate, and what could be longer-term needs, of our members, chapters and the Greater Fraternity as we navigate the pandemic and its associated impacts.
When will the Supreme Chapter virtual experience be held?
The virtual experience will be held during our currently scheduled convention date of Thursday, July 16, 2020, from 3:00-5:00 pm EDT. Specific registration instructions will be communicated by the end of May.
How will the National Council be elected?
South Carolina law allows the sending of an electronic ballot to vote on the National Council proposed slate without a meeting. The ballot will be provided to subordinate chapters and alumni members upon registration for the virtual experience. More information will be provided in the virtual experience registration materials.
Will fees already paid be refunded?
Alumni and their guests who are currently registered will be automatically refunded. If you would like to donate all or part of your registration fees to the Pi Kappa Phi Foundation, please email Denise Nelson by Friday, May 22nd.
Student chapter registration paid fees will be automatically applied to the chapter’s Pi Kapp College for Chapter Officers 2021 registration.
Are Chapter Advisor Symposium and Chapter Advisor Convocation cancelled?
Chapter Advisor Convocation and Chapter Advisor Symposium will be moved to a virtual experience for 2020. Chapter Advisor Convocation will be held throughout the month of July on various days with intentionally selected topics. Chapter Advisor Symposium will be held in early August. Additional details will be sent directly to chapter advisors in the coming weeks. For questions, please contact Christy Harrison.
Will my hotel reservation be canceled?
We are working with the Hilton Baltimore Inner Harbor to cancel all rooms in our group block. Once this is complete, you should receive a cancelation email. Please contact the hotel directly with any questions about a specific reservation. If you have booked sleeping accommodations not associated with the Pi Kappa Phi hotel room block at the Hilton Baltimore Inner Harbor, please reach out to that property to inquire about cancellation/refund. Student room cancellations will be handled by staff.
I already purchased my airfare, what do I do now?
Contact the airline directly to inquire about specific cancellation or change policies. Many airlines are currently waiving change fees and providing refunds or credit for future flights depending on the date of booking.
Will there still be an awards presentation?
Recognizing our individual members and alumni organizations is important. We are exploring opportunities to present awards and celebrate their successes. The announcement of our highest alumni and student awards will be made during the virtual experience and presented at a later date.
How will I receive updates on the Supreme Chapter virtual experience?
Updates will be shared as they develop via email, social media and on www.pikapp.org.
Alumni: please email Denise Nelson with any additional questions.
Students: please email Brent Grunig with any additional questions.
