The Terrell Noonday Lions Club greeted the 26 bicyclists and 10 crew members for a lunch the club hosted at The Garden Event Center on Moore Avenue. Joe Hood, Lions Club president, said club members were happy to support the participants in a ride formerly known as Push America.
Terrell Mayor Hal Richards was on hand to read a proclamation and declare July 13 as a day in honor of the Ability Experience’s Journey of Hope.
“You bring a message of acceptance and understanding,” Richards said of the riders raising funds and awareness of people with disabilities. “There was a saying in the 1960s and 1970s that if you weren’t part of the solution you were part of the problem Ñ you are part of the solution.” Richards praised the group for their volunteer efforts.
