Cross country bike ride focuses attention on people with disabilities

The Terrell Noonday Lions Club greeted the 26 bicyclists and 10 crew members for a lunch the club hosted at The Garden Event Center on Moore Avenue. Joe Hood, Lions Club president, said club members were happy to support the participants in a ride formerly known as Push America. 

Terrell Mayor Hal Richards was on hand to read a proclamation and declare July 13 as a day in honor of the Ability Experience’s Journey of Hope.

“You bring a message of acceptance and understanding,” Richards said of the riders raising funds and awareness of people with disabilities. “There was a saying in the 1960s and 1970s that if you weren’t part of the solution you were part of the problem Ă‘ you are part of the solution.” Richards praised the group for their volunteer efforts.
