Photo Spotlight from Iota Lambda (Quinnipiac): “This semester, we decided to change up our fall philanthropy event. Rather than doing our Electric Ability Carnival, we invited Travis Roy to speak. Travis is a man with a story about facing challenges head-on and being able to turn the worst experience of one’s life into something that can be used to better shape the lives of others.

Travis was a hockey player for Boston University, destined to do amazing things with a promising future for the NHL. Eleven seconds into his first game at BU, he was hit into the boards, paralyzing him from the neck down and changing his life forever. He now lives life in a wheelchair as a quadriplegic, traveling as a motivational speaker, raising funds and awareness for the Travis Roy Foundation.

Iota Lambda (Quinnipiac) hosted Travis at Quinnipiac in September, opening the speaking event up to the entire student body. Travis spoke to about 320 people about his story and how we can all learn from the worst experiences and shape them to be some of the best. The chapter accepted donations that were split between The Ability Experience and the Travis Roy Foundation.”
