“I’m honored to have this opportunity to help guide the mission of the liberal arts at The University of Findlay,” said Tulley. “The liberal arts are at the crux of educating the 21st century student to be a dynamic and engaged citizen in our digital society. UF’s long tradition of stimulating intellectual discussion and debate, honing writing and communication skills and fostering critical thinking help to develop the student as a whole person. A liberal arts degree at Findlay will empower students with the abilities and dispositions to succeed in their lives and careers.”
Tulley has held several teaching and administrative positions at the University since 2002 when he was a composition and literature instructor in the Department of English. Most recently, Tulley was an associate professor of English since 2010 and the interim director for online learning since 2013.
Other leadership positions Tulley held include chair of the English department; academic coordinator for online delivery; director of the writing center; interim chair of the English department; and co-director of technical communication area. As director of the writing center, Tulley expanded its reach and facilitated the creation of a graduate-level writing center, making the center more accessible to the entire student body.
Prior to accepting a position at The University of Findlay, Tulley taught at Case Western Reserve University, Bowling Green State University, Pierce College (Lakewood, Washington), Highline Community College (Des Moines, Washington), Joliet Junior College (Joliet, Illinois), South Suburban College (South Holland, Illinois) and East-West University (Chicago).
Tulley is a recipient of the Harriette Smith Ritz Award for Service to the University (2013), the Richard E. Wilkin Faculty Chair in the College of Liberal Arts (2012-2013) and others. He is a member of many academic and professional organizations.
