Event: Journey of Hope 2018, cyclist
Hometown: Thorntown, Indiana
Why did you sign up for this event?
Here at Purdue, we have a partnership with a local high school, Lafayette Jefferson High School. Every week, we have people head to the school to volunteer in their special needs classroom. I began going during my sophomore year, and the kids there really made an impact on me. Seeing their faces light up when “the Purdue guys” walked through the door is a feeling unlike any other.
What are you most excited for this summer?
I’m excited to push myself out of my comfort zone and do things that I never have before. I have a sense of security with the people I’ve met at Lafayette Jefferson because I’ve been there so many times, but I’m excited to do things with new people with different challenges.
Tell us a fun fact about yourself.
Last year I had a full, flowing mullet for a few months.
