Event: Build America 2017
Hometown: Westchester, Ohio
Why did you sign up for this event?
I grew up with a younger brother who has severe Autism and Bipolar disorder and a younger sister who has various learning disabilities due to some issues during her birth. While growing up with them, every day presented not only them but also my mother with challenges to overcome. It is thanks to wonderful programs like The Ability Experience that my mother and siblings were able to get the support they needed. It really made a world of difference. When I came to college I hated fraternities. It wasn’t until I learned about Pi Kapp and The Ability Experience with all the summer events. I knew from the moment I signed my bid I would do a summer event. As this is probably the last summer that I would be able to do a summer event, I knew that I had to do one. I originally was signed up to do GUF, but after speaking with Pi Alphas from my chapter, I knew that BAM was the event for me.
What are you most excited for this summer?
I’m excited for the wonderful experiences I’m going to have, the people I’m going to meet and the overall memories I’m going to build.
Tell us a fun fact about yourself:
I was once in a national Taco Bell commercial.
