Event: Journey of Hope South Route 2016
Hometown: St. Louis, Missouri
Why did you sign up for this event?
I signed up for the event because I was working at the Clemson University Outdoor Lab in the summer of 2014. The camp is a site along the South Route, and I had chapter brothers that were coming through. It was a very cool experience being able to welcome Pi Kapp brothers into my camp world, and to hang out with them. It was about then that I decided that I wanted to be the one in the cycling jersey riding into camp, to prove to my campers what I was willing to do for them.
Why did you decide to return this summer?
After having such a positive experience during Journey of Hope, I decided that I could give back to the event by taking on a leadership role on the team. This eventually led to my acceptance as the Project Manager of South Route.
What are you most excited for this summer?
I have to say that I am most excited to go back to the Outdoor Lab once again. In addition, I can’t wait to visit all of the cities I cycled to last summer, and reconnect with clients and sponsors alike.
What is your favorite memory from last year’s summer event?
One of our very first friendship visits (I believe in Victorville, CA) was also was one of the most memorable. There was a photobooth with many different costumes and accessories that you could wear, and we had team members and clients going in and out of the photobooth for hours. A dance party later erupted, and anyone that was still feeling shy had all hesitance melt away. Nobody wanted it to end.
Tell us a fun fact about yourself:
I am the youngest of seven children, and I can fit over 25 grapes in my mouth at once.
