St. Louis hosted the 2021 Summer Alumni Reunion with over 200 guests in attendance. This momentous weekend left brothers and their families truly feeling the appreciation of what Pi Kappa Phi means to so many. Brothers and friends of the Fraternity gathered to share stories and celebrate lifelong brotherhood. Those who attended returned home with the emotions truly fitting of a family’s love and admiration. Several attendees have noted that overall feeling of “family” that the brotherhood has provided and was exemplified over the weekend.
Pi Kappa Phi also honored those who have continued their service to the organization. This weekend of events was unique because of multiple events set to take place at last year’s Supreme Chapter, which went virtual. The Fraternity presented some of its highest honors, while the Pi Kappa Phi Foundation celebrated its Nu Phi Society.
Thursday’s ceremony began by presenting awards, including Thirty Under 30 winners who were present, Silver Legions, Excellence in Engagement and more. These honors were continued at a reception on Friday before the esteemed event on Saturday.
At Saturday’s awards banquet, Pi Kappa Phi recognized John Andrews, Delta Delta (Truman State), as the 2020 Mr. Pi Kappa Phi Award recipient. Other honors awarded included a Merit Citation given to Tracy Maddux, Zeta Theta (Texas), and the Connie Owen Order of the Rose presented to Penny DePalma, wife of Stephen DePalma, Beta Alpha (NJIT). The Order of the Rose is given to recognize the exceptional efforts of the spouses of Pi Kappa Phi members with the outlook of advancing the mission of the fraternity in mind. Merit Citations are awarded to one extraordinary brother as a celebratory honor of their fraternal support.
Two brothers, Kelley A. Bergstrom and Frank Parrish, both 1961 Alpha Omicron (Iowa State) initiates, celebrated 60 years of membership with Diamond Legions. Finally, the Pi Kappa Phi Hall of Fame had two inductees, Durward Owen, Xi (Roanoke), and Kelley A. Bergstrom.
Summer Alumni Reunion was a weekend of celebration, brotherhood and family. Congratulations to every award winner!
