After his graduation in 2000, Bryan went on to become the on-air sidekick for The Adam Carolla Show, which began as a syndicated radio show and has now become the world’s most downloaded podcast, according to the Guinness Book of World Records.
It was 2008 when Bryan began to notice recurring numbness in his lips and tongue, in addition to coordination issues and a tendency to feel incredibly intoxicated after only one or two drinks. After meeting with several doctors, Bryan received his diagnosis: an inoperable brain stem glioma. Deemed inoperable and given six months to live, Bryan was staring down the barrel of an exhausting schedule of radiation and chemotherapy. Instead of giving up, Bryan found refuge in comedy. Within the page of Shrinkage, Bryan recounts several experiences of his treatment and recovery through a comedic lense while never losing sight of the stark reality of his diagnosis.
Now four years since his initial diagnosis, Bryan lives in Los Angeles with his wife, Christie.
Shrinkage will be available on April 29, 2014 through Thomas Dunne Books.
