Their friendship visits to our day programs are a summer highlight each year. As they made their stop for the seventh year, this year was no exception.
Each year the cyclists stop at our day program for lunch and to spend time with everyone at AWI. Over the years they participated in a wide variety of activities including making ice cream, bingo, science projects, watermelon eating contest, arm wrestling, sunflower seed spitting contest and karaoke. Water balloon baseball has become everyone’s favorite. When someone says “batter up” everyone should prepare to get wet during this wild version of baseball. Before the game is over all rules are out the window and everyone is soaking wet!
It is truly amazing to watch these young men give their summer raising money and awareness for individuals with disabilities. In the past seven years we have received grants that have helped fund two gazebos, tents for events, Xbox Kinect, outdoor furniture and planters, and a lift to assist clients. We appreciate their support and the friendships they have made during their visits.
