Pi Kapps provide manpower for Texas Ramp ProjectÕs 105th wheelchair ramp in E. Texas

On Saturday, September 24, Kunal Patel, D’Angelo Forbes, and Andrew Valentine helped construct a wheelchair ramp for a family in the Winona community of Smith County.

In the last year, members of the Theta Pi Chapter have teamed up with the Texas Ramp Project on more than a half-dozen ramp builds. The non-profit organization is an all-volunteer group funded by United Way, local churches, civic organizations and individuals who work to build wheelchair ramps for those in need.

The organization furnishes the building materials and the fraternity helps provides valuable muscle and manpower. So far this year, Texas Ramp Project has completed 105 ramps in East Texas.

Members were inspired to form the partnership through Pi Kappa Phi’s philanthropy, The Ability Experience. The goal of each and every Ability Experience program is to give of one’s self in order to benefit people with disabilities, instilling a lifelong commitment to service.
