This experience brought the two together to create something else, a business. A business that builds homes for impoverished Nicaraguan families and employs Nicaragua artisans. From this WholeStory Hammocks was founded. The mission of WholeStory Hammocks is to alleviate poverty in third-world countries through economic development and sustainable aid, aid that lasts. For every 100 hammocks WholeStory sells, they build a home for a Nicaraguan family in need. They have built three homes, and will have a fourth home built by October while employing 80+ artisans. Together the two Pi Kapp Alumni plan on building hundreds of homes across the globe, with the aspirations of building schools and health care centers. By selling handmade artisanal products, employment is provided and WholeStory gives back to the same country they buy from.
WholeStory has family hammocks, hammock swings and even folding wooden hammock chairs. The artisans they employ come from a family of hammock makers who have become masters of their craft over the past 80 years. Each hammock takes 12-15 hours for 3 artisans to hand craft, creating a high quality, passion filled product. Extremely comfortable for napping or relaxing, WholeStory gives anyone the opportunity to change the world from a hammock. When purchasing one of their hammocks, each customer becomes 1 of 100 building blocks for a new home for a Nicaraguan family. You can check out their website here!
