The privacy and security of personal information that Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity maintains is of the utmost importance.
Pi Kappa Phi experienced unauthorized access to our network on or about February 3, 2024. Upon learning of this issue, Pi Kappa Phi immediately commenced a prompt and thorough investigation. As part of our investigation, we have been working very closely with external cybersecurity professionals who are experienced in handling these types of incidents.
After an extensive forensic investigation and manual review, Pi Kappa Phi discovered on November 21, 2024, that certain impacted files containing personal information may have been removed from our network by an unauthorized individual(s). The information potentially impacted by this incident includes full name, date of birth, Social Security number, financial account and/or banking information, driver’s license number or state identification number, medical information, health insurance information, taxpayer identification number, digital signature and email login and password. The information impacted varied by individual.
Pi Kappa Phi is sending notification letters to each potentially affected individual for whom it has a last known address. The notice contains information about the incident, as well as information and resources to help individuals protect their information. We are offering complimentary identity monitoring and protection services for individuals whose Social Security number was involved in this incident. We recommend that these individuals enroll in the services provided to increase the likelihood that their information remains protected.
Pi Kappa Phi has no evidence that any data has been misused. Nevertheless, Pi Kappa Phi encourages impacted individuals to take actions to help protect their personal information. These actions include placing a fraud alert and/or security freeze on their credit files and/or obtaining a free credit report. Additionally, individuals should always remain vigilant in reviewing their financial account statements, explanation of benefits statements and credit reports for fraudulent or irregular activity on a regular basis and report any suspicious activity to the proper authorities.
Pi Kappa Phi remains fully committed to maintaining the privacy of personal information in its possession and has taken many precautions to safeguard it, including continually evaluating and modifying its practices and internal controls.
