The chapter was installed by current National Secretary Eric Almquist, Alpha Omicron (Iowa State), and National Chaplain Alan Duesterhaus, Zeta Epsilon (George Mason). The founding fathers were initiated into Pi Kappa Phi by the initiating teams from the Alpha Phi Chapter at the Illinois Institute of Technology and the Eta Beta Chapter from Indiana State University. Overall, it was a memorable evening for everyone involved. The chapter hosted a banquet at the Hotel Palomar in downtown Chicago.
Representing the national fraternity at the chapter’s chartering banquet were the Director of Chapter Development Brent Grunig, Omega (Purdue), Leadership Consultant Shane Conway, Theta Pi (Texas–Tyler), and Leadership Consultant Harris Rosendahl, Kappa Gamma (Montana). The chapter advisor, Nicholas Ventola, Zeta Eta (South Florida), a Pi Kappa Phi 30 under 30 recipient, was also in attendance.
Brother Almquist delivered the keynote address, where he called the men of the chapter to work each day to truly exemplify what it means to be Uncommon, and he emphasized how important it is to redefine the fraternity stereotype for today’s culture. Brother Duesterhaus presented the charter and had a few remarks before the Archon, Grant Vlahopoulos, gave his address.
The DePaul Fraternity & Sorority Life community and Pi Kappa Phi are extremely proud of the men of Kappa Xi and look forward to all that they will accomplish.
