Russell Faulkner, Delta Psi (UT-Arlington), and Robert Chan, Eta Theta (San Francisco), served as installation officers for the Fraternity’s chartering of our new Kappa Mu Chapter at the University of California, Merced. Eta Eta (UC-Irvine) and Theta Sigma (Cal State – Long Beach) initiated 48 founding fathers into the Pi Kappa Phi brotherhood. It was a memorable experience for all involved.
Director of Chapter Volunteers Beau Samples, Eta Upsilon (Miami – OH), and Assistant Director of Expansion Dalton Guthery, Alpha Gamma (Oklahoma), represented the national fraternity and facilitated events over the weekend.
The chapter hosted their banquet at the Merced Golf and Country Club, which is a favorite local venue among UC Merced’s Greek community. Richard Arquette, the UC Merced Greek Life Coordinator, welcomed all in attendance on behalf of the University and issued warm remarks from the Greek Life Office. Russell Faulkner delivered the keynote address, challenging the chapter to not become complacent after reaching their chartering goal and to keep improving the chapter for the future members of the Kappa Mu Chapter. Brother Chan had a few remarks before he presented the chapter with their new charter. Dalton Guthery addressed the audience on behalf of the national headquarters. Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs Charles Nies, was in attendance to show his support for the chapter. The audience would not be complete without the chapter’s advisor, Enrique Guzman, who serves the UC Merced community as the Coordinator of Student Involvement and Transitional Programs.
The UC Merced Fraternity & Sorority Life community and Pi Kappa Phi are both extremely proud of the new founding father of the Kappa Mu Chapter and look forward to all that they will accomplish.
