On April 9 the chapter hosted a Joy Prom for over 150 guests with disabilities in the local community. Guests names were announced on a loud speaker as they ran down a 50 foot red carpet with hundreds of ‘paparazzi’ flashing their cameras and cheering. Along with Ben & Jerry’s and a busy photo booth, guests were entertained by a DJ and a number of UNC’s best acapella groups. The majority of guests who came to Joy Prom had never had the ability to have a true prom experience. So on April 9, Kappa Chapter gave them that experience.
The chapter can’t express how life-changing the prom experience was. Kappa Chapter is already excited to start planning for next year.
