John Greaves, Omicron Chapter, awarded Volunteer of the Year

He is currently the chapter advisor for Beta Kappa Chapter (Georgia State), previously serving Lambda Chapter (Georgia) in the same role and a facilitator for Ladder of Risk and Alcohol Skills Training Program. As well as being a certified ritualist facilitator and a sponsor for the Journey of Hope team as the South Route has come through the Atlanta area.

Volunteeroftheyear-grievessmall When asked why he remains an engaged alumnus he points to the examples set to him by the older Omicron alumni who came around when he was in the chapter, Emmett Dendy and Harry Caldwell chief among them. John always says, “I am a Pi Kapp, not I was”, adding “I never resigned from the fraternity, once a Pi Kapp always a Pi Kapp.” His advice to others who want to get involved, “offer your time, be consistent, persistent and most important be available and show up.” We all could take a page out of John’s playbook for his continued service and dedication to the fraternity.
