Gamma Tau (North Texas) attends Pi Kapp College for Chapter Officers

The Gamma Tau Chapter was welcomed by many friendly brothers as well as by many Master Chapter Awards. Gamma Tau was awarded Master Chapter for attaining three stars of excellence in each of the following categories: Campus Involvement, Service & Philanthropy, Scholarship, Governance, and Branding & Communication. These awards are to recognize the efforts given by the chapter during 2015. This recognition gave Gamma Tau’s EC a, “great start to a great weekend,” said Daniel Hansbury, Gamma Tau’s newly elected Archon.

Keynote speaker William Sigmon, Pi Kappa Phi’s Nationals Chaplain, opened the conference Friday evening by discussing some difficult topics. He touched on the fact that the fraternal world is “under fire” and pressed the importance of producing a positive public image of Pi Kappa Phi. Pi Kappa Phi’s National Chaplain challenged each chapter to uphold the ideals of Pi Kappa Phi, to rise to the challenge.

This theme resonated with brothers from Gamma Tau as Pi Kapp continues to operate in a challenging day. Gamma Tau’s 2016 leaders will be better equipped to handle the challenges before them after attending this year’s Pi Kapp College for Chapter Officers. As the weekend progressed, each member of the executive council was instructed on how to better fulfill the duties of their position as they serve their next term, and will return invigorated with a clear vision for their chapter.

The weekend was made complete as Pi Kappa Phi’s Chief Executive Officer, Mark E. Timmes spoke at the Saturday night banquet dinner. Timmes gave an inspiring speech about taking Pi Kapp to new heights. He proceeded to shake the hands of the archons of each chapter who were recognized and awarded after he spoke. The Gamma Tau Chapter received the Outstanding Growth Award, Outstanding Campus Involvement Award, Most Outstanding Volunteer Relationship with Best Buddies, and Champion Master Chapter of Pi Kappa Phi. Archon, Daniel Hansbury and Secretary, Cory Gonzales were individually recognized for the David Morgan Extra Mile Scholarship.

The Gamma Tau Chapter of Pi Kappa Phi is rising to the challenge and taking their chapter to new heights.
