The Gamma Nu Chapter of Pi Kappa Phi at LaGrange College celebrated its 50th Anniversary this month, originally chartered on May 10, 1969. Brothers of all ages, family and friends gathered at the Highland Country Club to socialize, reconnect and celebrate this historic event. Brothers toasted being the first National Fraternity at LaGrange College, the many successes of the chapter and our 50 years of continuous brotherhood.
Joining the celebration was the Gamma Nu Chartering Officer from 1969, Brother Phil Tappy (Lambda, UGA). Phil shared memories of the founding of Gamma Nu including working with the undergraduates and college personalities to bring to life a national organization of which the college could be proud. Phil also shared pearls of wisdom with the undergraduates in attendance that he gained from personal Pi Kapp experiences, focusing on unity and brotherhood for life.
The attendees enjoyed the chapter archives of composites, scrapbooks and chapter awards. Earlier Brothers shared stories with the undergraduates stories and relived Gamma Nu’s early years and history. Everyone enjoyed introductions and conversing between Brothers from different decades and generations. The evening was closed with a special presentation of Golden Legion certificates to the seven Charter Members present.
A consensus was reached by those in attendance that we enjoyed the celebration and our time together so much that in addition to our Homecoming visits the chapter will plan to have an Anniversary Celebration every fifth year. Save the Date – we plan to see everyone in 2024.
