Gamma Iota gives back to their community

Through their friendships with the sisters of Chi Omega, the chapter’s next door neighbor on LSU’s Baton Rouge campus, the brothers learned Chi O chef LaTrece Antoinette was working tirelessly to raise money to send her son, Christopher, to Europe on a class trip. With a desire to help give back to someone who has given selflessly to members of LSU’s Greek community, the brothers invited Antoinette to the Pi Kapp chapter house on the evening of Nov. 30.

At their meeting, they presented her with a check for $3,000, which was more than enough to cover the cost of her son’s trip. “We jumped at the chance to rally behind Ms. LaTrece when we found out how hard she was working to make her son’s trip to Europe a dream come true,” said outgoing Archon Blaine Tatje. “The entire chapter was glad we could support someone who brings so much to our campus every day. We hope Christopher has a great time abroad.”

“Gentlemen, you really have no idea what this gift means to my family,” Antoinette later wrote on the Gamma Iota Facebook page. “When I told him about this gift he dropped to his knees and thanked God for your kindness. He makes me so proud and we are so thankful for all of you.”
