FGCU Greek Life raises over $115K to start 2015

All too often it seems that the Naples area only hears about blunders, regardless of the benefits that FGCU’s Greek system brings to the community.

What locals may not know is that some Greek organizations are well-oiled public service machines. There are 19 sororities and fraternities at FGCU, each governed by the Panhellenic Council, the Interfraternity Council, National Panhellenic Council, and the Multicultural Greek Council. Each of these organizations is paired with a charity or non-profit organization for which the students dedicate a large portion of their time fundraising. Pi Kappa Phi is one organization that owns and operates their own non-profit, The Ability Experience.

In addition to their philanthropies, all FGCU students, including members of Greek organizations, are required to donate 80 hours of their time to service learning projects before graduation. All of the services produced by Greek students directly benefit the community.
