More than 46,000 “pilots” tried out in 535 tournaments across four continents to see who would make it to the world’s top paper plane contest. 197 competitors from 80 different continents were lucky enough to qualify in the respective events and represent their country.
The United States was split into four regions, each with a competitor in the categories of Aerobatics, Longest Distance and Longest Airtime. Pi Kappa Phi Delta Upsilon Chapter’s very own, Dan Dubin, was chosen by Red Bull to represent the Eastern Region of the United States in Aerobatics.
Dubin ranked 50th in the world and said the experience helped him “experience new cultures and make life long friendships with amazing people from around the world”. The championship was held May 8-9, 2015.
