The Kroger Nashville corporate office chose Higgins for this award based on his volunteer work in public health, literacy, and fundraising for Positively Living, Children’s Hospital of East TN, Second Harvest, and Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. He has also had the opportunity to serve the community through health fairs in schools and the community, and at Chamber of Commerce events.
Higgins serves on the State of Tennessee Health Department Funding Committee for HIV Prevention. For winning the Kroger Community Service Award, Kroger Nashville made a $500 donation to the charity of his choice (Positively Living of Knoxville, TN) and he was recognized in Kroger’s Annual Shareholder Report. Higgins’ continued community involvement stems from his undergraduate experiences in Pi Kappa Phi and involvement with Push America.
