Epting, who previously served as the Archon of the Alpha Gamma chapter, was elected in an uncontested race.
He is the second Pi Kapp to serve as student body president in the last three years at the University of Oklahoma Ð and it’s a family affair. Epting’s big brother in the chapter, Joe Sangirardi, was elected to the position in an uncontested race in 2012.
Sangirardi encouraged Epting to run after working with him in student government for several years.
“It was really special for me to be able to gain a better understanding of the position from my own fraternity brother,” Epting said. “Joe was really supportive and helped me to realize my passion for serving students at OU.”
Epting said serving as Archon prepared him for a larger executive role on campus.
“Leading the Alpha Gamma chapter was one of the most fulfilling experiences of my life,” Epting said. “I carry the lessons I’ve learned in Pi Kappa Phi with me in my new role in the Student Government Association.”
Matt served as a communications intern for the National Headquarters this school year.
