Robert Newell
Robert Newell, Theta Psi (RIT), has spent his time since graduation pursuing research as an applied behavior analysis therapist, serving as an educator and making a difference in his community. Throughout his undergraduate experience in Pi Kappa Phi, he had amazing mentors to look up to and attributes his current success to them. The support they provided him with is something he will never forget. One mentor, chapter advisor Kurt Ingerick, told him to “pay it forward,” a statement that has driven him ever since. Throughout his various career paths, the goal of paying it forward has remained constant. Serving as the chaplain and archon of his chapter, he focused on creating better young adults, and that is still his focus today. Whether it be in the classroom or on the track as the head cross country coach for his school, he strives to advocate for, educate and support his students. Since taking over the cross country program, he has facilitated the team receiving donations of shoes, funds, and even pre-competition meals, and has created opportunities for his runners to give back to the community that is willing to give them so much. For Robert, success is measured not in objective results or official recognition but rather in the moments in between that, when strung together, are what create change in individuals’ lives and in his community.
Robert and his fellow Thirty Under 30 recipients will be honored at the 2023 Pi Kapp Alumni Reunion. Interested in joining us? Click here to learn more.
