Omkar Mayur
After graduating Summa Cum Laude in 2019, Omkar Mayur, Gamma Psi (Augusta), enrolled in the Medical College of Georgia as part of an accelerated program. He has completed three years of medical school while maintaining a 4.0-grade point average and is currently spending a year conducting clinical research with Harvard University affiliated hospital’s Mass General Hospital and Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, focusing on dermatologic diseases as well as creating handouts for pediatric patients to better understand the conditions they have been diagnosed with. He has authored numerous scholarly articles and hopes to continue his passion for research and service in the future, returning to medical school in Georgia with the intent to graduate in the spring of 2024. In the medical field, he has given back through a mission trip to Puerto Rico, where he worked with physicians to set up mobile clinics and provide healthcare to those with unequal access to care, and then continued serving uninsured and underinsured individuals as head coordinator of the Free Mental Health Clinic of Augusta, a student-run organization offering free psychiatric evaluations and medication management services. Within Pi Kappa Phi, he has volunteered with his chapter’s “Gamma Psi-clathon,” Pie a Pi Kapp, Pi HOP and Jaguar Miracle. He continues the mission of The Ability Experience as a counselor for the Children’s Hospital of Georgia summer camps, helping kids participate in camp while helping manage their medical needs. He still calls Augusta home and feels grateful to retain a sense of community and support with his chapter.
Omkar and his fellow Thirty Under 30 recipients will be honored at the 2023 Pi Kapp Alumni Reunion. Interested in joining us? Click here to learn more.
