2023 Thirty Under 30

Benjamin Nelson

Benjamin Nelson, Beta Epsilon (Missouri), recalls being extremely busy throughout his college years, and his career in the United States Airforce has proved to be no different. After his graduation in 2021, Nelson went on to excel in initial skills training in nuclear and missile operations at Vandenberg Space Force Base, receiving the Academic Achievement Award. Since graduating from the program, he has been stationed at Malstrom Air Force Base in Great Falls, Montana, working to ensure the security, safe operation and maintenance upkeep of the Minuteman III Intercontinental Ballistic Missile. In this role, he has received recognition as the “Missileer of the Quarter” and “Missileer of the Year” in the 12th Missile Squadron. He strives to give back to his community through service on the Great Falls Manfield Center for the Performing Arts Advisory Board and as the president of his squadron’s Booster Club. Through the Booster Club, he spearheaded a Thanksgiving fundraiser that raised $1,000 in four days, providing 40 families with a full Thanksgiving meal. His experiences in Pi Kappa Phi helped him realize the importance of building and maintaining personal relationships, which he feels has contributed to both his personal and professional growth.
