Serjio Brereda
Beta Nu – University of Houston
Serjio states that one of his greatest accomplishments to date is walking again. After a virus paralyzed Serjio from the neck down in 2010, he made what was believed impossible possible through persistence and hard work, regaining the ability to walk after hundreds of hours of therapy. He served on crew for Journey of Hope twice, once in 2015 and again in 2016, before later interning as a Route Specialist for Journey of Hope where he reaffirmed his passion for working in the nonprofit sector. After graduating from the University of Houston, Serjio received his Credentials as a Nonprofit Professional (CNP) and a Certificate in Nonprofit Management. He later began working with Spay-Neuter Assistance Program, a nonprofit organization in Houston that services in seventeen Texas counties where he serves as the Development Assistant. In his role, he has brought in over $45,000 in resources and fundraising efforts within a three-month span. Serjio also serves on three various committees with the Association of Fundraising Professions – Greater Houston Chapter, where he assists with educating future professionals and advocating for inclusion in the fundraising world.
