Kara Miller McCarty
Managing Director of Training and Development
Kara Miller McCarty attended Gannon University, where she studied psychology and joined Sigma Sigma Sigma Sorority. She went on to earn her master’s degree in higher education administration from the College of William and Mary, and then her doctorate in higher education leadership from Colorado State University. She has earned certificates in women in leadership, diversity, equity and inclusion and is a certified fraternity and sorority life educator and student affairs educator through Consortium. She has previously served as the president for the Association of Fraternity/Sorority Advisors (AFA) and as the director of sorority and fraternity life at Cornell University. Since joining Pi Kappa Phi staff in 2024, she has worked to lead the training and development team, oversee learning management systems and assessment, support Pi Kappa Phi’s educational strategy through curriculum development and leadership training and integrate diversity, equity and inclusion into all programming. In her free time, Kara enjoys reading, attending concerts and plays, being outdoors and volunteering her time as a national vice president for Sigma Sigma Sigma Sorority.

Fun Fact: Kara has three dogs who are all black and white; Cooper, Churchill and Touchdown.
