Pi Kappa Phi Brotherhood Survey
Pi Kappa Phi has partnered with the Piazza Center at Penn State University to conduct an educational assessment intended to measure the impact of the Pi Kappa Phi experience on our members and within our chapters.
The Pi Kappa Phi Brotherhood Survey is an opportunity for all undergraduate members of Pi Kappa Phi to anonymously share feedback about their experience. In fall 2026, the Brotherhood Survey will be open to undergraduate members from Thursday, October 1 and will close on Thursday, October 29.
Common Questions About the Brotherhood Survey
Each undergraduate member of Pi Kappa Phi will receive an individual link – no two members will have the same link. The link will come from communications@pikapp.org. Once they receive their individual link, they should use it to complete the survey. The survey takes approximately 20-30 minutes to complete and asks a series of multiple-choice and rating questions. There are no short-answer or essay questions in the Brotherhood Survey. Members will receive automated weekly reminders about the Brotherhood Survey until they complete it.
Members will also receive text message reminders until they complete their survey.
If a member does not receive an email with their individual link, they should first check their junk or spam folders. If they are still unable to find the email, they can log in to the Pi Kapp Hub and find a button on their member profile that says “Brotherhood Survey” next to their name and profile picture. They can click that link to complete their survey. If they do not have a button, they are not eligible to take the survey at this time.
A widget has been added to your chapter's dashboard in Chapter Gateway with an overview of the survey status of all members eligible to participate. Chapter leadership can find a detailed list of each eligible member's survey status under "Membership Management" > "Reports" > "Brotherhood Survey Status." Please note that this report does not update automatically, but will be updated manually on Thursdays and Mondays.
The Brotherhood Survey is a powerful tool that can help you enhance your chapter's membership experience. In addition, the Fraternity will provide the following incentives to chapters for completion:
- Each week, students who complete the survey will be entered into a drawing for a chance to win a $25 Visa gift card. One winner will be randomly selected each week from all eligible participants. Completing the survey early maximizes the chances of being included in multiple drawings.
- All chapters with an 80% completion rate will be eligible for an insurance rebate.
- All chapters that reach a 90% completion rate will be entered to win complimentary travel for their warden to Pi Kapp College: Warden's Academy.
- All chapters that reach a 100% completion rate will be entered to win complimentary travel for their delegation to Pi Kapp College for Chapter Officers.
Your chapter must have 80% completion of the Brotherhood Survey of the men who are listed on the "Brotherhood Survey Status" report on Chapter Gateway to be eligible for this semester's insurance rebate.
The purpose of the Pi Kappa Phi Brotherhood Survey is to measure and maximize the impact of the Pi Kappa Phi experience on all members. By participating in the Brotherhood Survey, members will have an opportunity to have their voice heard, chapters will have the opportunity to receive updated chapter-specific information and the National Headquarters will be able to evaluate and revise existing programs to ensure that Pi Kappa Phi remains an unparalleled leadership development experience for all members.
A higher completion rate ensures that a chapter receives data representative of the majority of its members. Some of the tips and best practices shared by chapters with a 90% or higher completion rate include:
- Follow up with members consistently. You will be able to access a weekly completion report in Chapter Gateway and share it with your Executive Council members. When your weekly report is updated, text or call any members who have not completed the survey. In larger chapters, ask members (such as officers or key committee chairmen) to help you.
- Drive participation early. By encouraging members to participate in the Brotherhood Survey within the first two weeks, you will spend less time following up later in the semester, when classes and extracurricular commitments become more demanding. Additionally, completing the survey early maximizes the chances of being included in multiple drawings for incentives.
- Communicate incentives for members to complete the survey. Pi Kappa Phi is offering several chapter incentives for participating in the fall 2026 Brotherhood Survey. Additionally, some chapters choose to create their own incentives (e.g., $5 Starbucks gift cards for the first 20 members to complete the survey, the chapter buys pizza for a chapter meeting if the chapter hits a 90% response rate, etc.).
- Complete the Brotherhood Survey at a chapter meeting. One of the most effective ways to maximize your chapter’s response rate is to set aside 30 minutes during a chapter meeting for all members to participate. If they don’t complete the survey within the allotted time, they can return to it later. Avoid asking members to complete the survey before or after a chapter meeting; when this happens, few people follow through.
- Make the case for why participating in the Brotherhood Survey is important. Participating in the Brotherhood Survey is the best way for all members to provide feedback about their experience, and it can provide tangible ways for officers to improve the experience at the chapter level.
- Ask for help. It can be difficult to follow up with members or brainstorm strategies to maximize your chapter’s response rate. If this happens, don’t be afraid to ask other officers, your director of chapter services or the National Headquarters for assistance.
