James House began his journey with Pi Kappa Phi on November 19, 1971, when he initiated into the Alpha Eta Chapter at Samford University. He serves as president and chief executive officer of First US Bank and First US Bancshares, Inc. (Nasdaq: FUSB), a $1.073 billion commercial bank headquartered in Birmingham, Alabama. Under his leadership, the bank has achieved substantial loan growth, relocated its headquarters and expanded into new markets across Tennessee and Virginia. His career in banking includes senior executive roles with SouthTrust Bank, BankTrust and service as a banking consultant to law firms and financial institutions nationwide.
He has served on the Pi Kappa Phi Foundation Board of Trustees since 2006, including terms as secretary and treasurer from 2010–12. He also contributes his expertise as a member of the Foundation’s Investment Committee.
House is a recipient of the Certificate of Appreciation (2015) and the Merit Citation (2016).
House continues to invest his time, talent and treasure in the Pi Kappa Phi Foundation because he believes in the lifelong value of Pi Kappa Phi and the leadership it instills in young men.
