Evan Austin, Eta Beta (Indiana State), was initiated into Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity on March 30, 2012. He was born with Familial Spastic Paraparesis, a genetic neurological disorder that affects the function and use of his legs. Austin began swimming at age 11 and made his Paralympic debut at the London 2012 games. He represented the United States in Rio in 2016, Tokyo in 2020 and Paris in 2024. At the 2016 games in Tokyo, he won a gold medal in the 50-meter butterfly and a bronze in the 400-meter freestyle. In addition to his Paralympic pursuits, Austin serves as a development officer for The Ability Experience, Pi Kappa Phi’s philanthropic arm.
