Beta Xi (Central Michigan)
Dr. Derek Berger began his journey with Pi Kappa Phi in 2003, when he initiated into the Beta Xi Chapter at Central Michigan University. As an undergraduate member, he served as archon and historian and was also a member of the National President’s Circle, demonstrating an early commitment to leadership and excellence within the Fraternity.
After graduation, Berger joined the national staff, where he served as a senior leadership consultant and coordinator of chapter development, helping support undergraduate members and strengthen chapters across the country. He later earned his doctorate in education from Ball State University and now serves as vice president for university advancement at Wentworth Institute of Technology.
Within Pi Kappa Phi, Berger has remained an active and dedicated volunteer. He has served as chapter advisor to the Iota Chi Chapter and is also a certified ritualist trainer, continuing to share his time and expertise in service to the Fraternity. He is a proud member of the Nu Phi Society.
Berger joined the Pi Kappa Phi Foundation Board in 2025. An engaged alumnus, he continues to give generously of his time and talent in support of the Foundation and the greater Fraternity. His continued involvement reflects both gratitude for the role Pi Kappa Phi has played in his life and a commitment to helping future generations of brothers benefit from that same experience.
