A group of Pi Kappa Phi brothers spent the day cooking and playing sports with the members of Best Buddies and their families last month. “Our buddies always love seeing the Pi Kappa Phi men at our events and it was such a big help having them there at the cookout! We can’t wait to see more of them at our events next year!” said Olivia Vega, Ohio State Best Buddies President.
“What better way to bring in summer than a beautiful afternoon of food and Frisbee with new friends?” Jack Crowley said after his first Best Buddies event as a Pi Kapp. Alex McQuillen, Alpha Nu Ability Experience Chair summed it up: “Everyone had a great time and enjoyed the nice weather. The Alpha Nu Chapter can’t wait to do more events with the Best Buddies Club at OSU.” Approximately 50 people attended the event. Best Buddies is a non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing the lives of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities by providing opportunities for one-to-one friendships.
“I love Best Buddies! I get to hang out with my friends and college students while doing fun things throughout the school year. I like going to Ohio State and being part of campus life.” said Jacki Green of Best Buddies OSU. “Best Buddies has given Jacki an opportunity to have new experiences while being with Ohio State students that help to support positive social interactions between her special needs friends and the Best Buddies OSU Students. Without this program Jacki would not be able to interact with college peers and experience life on campus.”
